How I Quit Smoking with an Njoy Electronic Cigarette
The following article about electronic cigarettes was sent to us by Thomas Gregory – A former smoker.
Okay, before I go on I need to first get all of that legal mumbo jumbo out of the way by saying the following: I am not a doctor or in any way a medical expert or professional. If you are addicted to smoking and wish to quit, you should see a medical professional for advice. Furthermore, Njoy Electronic cigarettes, and electronic cigarettes in general are not approved as smoking cessation devices. I am simply a regular guy who used an Njoy cigarette to help me quit smoking. This is my personal experience and yours may be different. Do your due diligence and seek the advice of a competent professional before you attempt to do anything mentioned in the following article. All information is accurate as far as I am aware but as stated above, I AM NOT AN EXPERT. To read my full disclaimer skip ahead to the end of this report.
Okay, with that out of the way, this is my story…
I have been smoking about a pack and a half of cigarettes for about 15 years. Like everyone else I have quit a number of times, only to start right back up again the first time I had a stressful day or one to many drinks at a party. I am 34 years old am at that age where I am feeling new aches and panes and my body doesn’t seem to recover quite as frequently as it used to. This has got me thinking a lot more about my overall health and mortality and has lead me to the undeniable conclusion that I’ve got to stop smoking. The only problem is that it’s hard has hell to do.
I’ll spare you all the details as I’m sure if you’re reading this you already know that cigarettes are very very bad for you. If you smoke them long enough, they might actually kill you. But what you may or may not know is that it is the igniting and inhaling of tobacco that presents the large majority of the risk. I’m not here to tell you that nicotine is good for you, it’s not. It is associated with certain health risks of its own and is highly addictive. However, nicotine is not cancer causing, and its negative effects are said to be relatively minor compared to those of traditional cigarettes and tobacco.
So I had been kicking these facts around in my head for a while, concerned about my smoking habit but unable to quit, when I heard about a new invention called an Electronic Cigarette. There are a number of different types of e-cigarettes out there. Each brand seems to have its own patent, so I can’t vouch for anything or than what I have tried. The brand I purchased was an Njoy Cigarette, and I bought it from www.njoycigarettestore.com.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered it, but the Njoy smoking device is a quality device, that looks nice and works well, at least mine has. As a smoker, there are some things that you will like about it and some that you won’t.
The Pros
• No cancer causing agents.
• No terrible ashtray mouth.
• Can be legally smoked in bars, restaurants, the work place, and even on airplanes.
• Nicotine levels come in full, medium, light, and none.
• Flavors come in regular, menthol, strawberry, apple, and vanilla.
• Smokes well, similar to a regular cigarette.
• Comes with a 1 year warranty.
• The customer service at www.njoycigarettestore.com is very good.
• Cheaper than regular cigarettes in the long run.
The Cons
• The flavor is milder and a little sweeter than a regular cigarette. Tastes almost like a pipe but without the after taste.
• There is a one time expense for the start up kit that is rather high. Njoy starter kits retail for $110 but you can get them for $88 at www.njoycigarettestore.com.
• You need to pull a little harder when you take a drag.
• Device is a little longer than a regular cigarette.
How I Used My Njoy Cigarette To Quit…
If you are looking to quit smoking I recommend you begin using the full strength refill cartridges, and if you are looking for the flavor most similar to a real cigarette I would go with Menthol or regular. Most people inclination is to start with medium, light or none, but that is akin to going cold turkey and you don’t want to get discouraged right away simply because you are going through withdrawals and misinterpreting it as a dislike of the Njoy electronic cigarette. The other factor is that the flavor of Njoy cigarette refill cartridges is a little milder and sweeter than some smokers like, and the regular and menthol flavors are a little closer to the real thing than the fun flavors.
When I first began with the Njoy cigarette, I used it about 50% off the time. I would smoke it to get my nicotine fix, but when I really had a craving for a cigarette; I just gave in and smoked a cigarette. I didn’t push myself too hard. It’s like crash dieting… It can work fine to go cold turkey, but then you sort of set yourself up to spring back as soon as your will power wanes. I did this 50/50 routine for about two weeks.
Next, after two weeks, and after getting familiar with the Njoy Cigarette, I turned things up a notch and only allowed myself about 3 cigarettes a day, and instead turned to the Njoy cigarette a lot more. One of the really nice things about an electronic cigarette is that where as with a regular cigarette you tend to smoke it until its burnt down, an electronic cigarette allows you to simply pick it up, take a drag, and put it away again. This means that the simple nature of the device encourages you to actually smoke less. What was surprising to me was that by the end of a week or two of this, it wasn’t very hard to pass on the regular cigarettes. In fact there were days when I didn’t even smoke allow of my self allotted cigarettes.
Once I was comfortable with this regiment – which was about 2 and half weeks for me, I took the deep plunge and cut off the regular cigarettes altogether. It was a little uncomfortable for a few days but the transition was relatively painless. All of this was done while smoking the full strength Njoy refills – in my case I used the regular and occasionally popped in one of the other flavors just for variety. And during this time I allowed myself to smoke the Njoy whenever I wanted. I completely used it as a crutch.
With the success I had experienced using approximately two weeks as my time frame for each step, I then decided to apply that to weaning myself off of the Njoy Cigarette altogether. Don’t tell Njoy that however, I’m sure they’d like me to be a life long customer.
Every two weeks I made a downgrade from full, to medium, to light, and finally none. When I had finally started smoking the no nicotine refill cartridges, I did have occasion where I was jonesing pretty hard and did occasionally allow myself to upgrade to the light refill cartridges. But after a while – and with a little will power – I had finally given up the nicotine, and within a few more weeks had quit altogether. So all-in-all, it took me a few months to kick the habit completely. I went the long road because I’m a big chicken and just couldn’t take the intensity of quitting any faster. You may find it easier or perhaps even harder. This is simply what I did, and it worked for me.
Then when I was finally finished I gave my Njoy Cigarette to a friend of mine who is also trying to quit. She’s off of cigarettes almost completely but still smokes the medium strength cartridges.
The addiction to cigarettes can be extremely intense and before you take anything I am saying as the gospel I recommend you do some research and perhaps talk to your doctor. This is simply what I did and what worked for me.
